Mainland Custom Marble, Inc. was established in 1982 in League City, Texas by Johnny Helpenstill and Darwin Miller. What began with three employees and a minimal amount of manufacturing equipment has evolved today into one of the leading cultured marble suppliers in the Greater Houston area. In an effort to meet the growing demand for cultured marble in Houston, Mainland Custom Marble relocated to our present location in Alvin, Texas in 2000 with a state of the art manufacturing facility.

Mainland Custom Marble and the cultured marble industry suffered a great loss in 2005 with the passing of Darwin Miller. Darwin was instrumental in developing the manufacturing methods in the industry during his tenure with Mainland Custom Marble and has been greatly missed. In 2006, Johnny Helpenstill and Beverly Miller transitioned the ownership of the company to Kevin Bertelsman.

Kevin received a degree in chemical engineering from The University of Texas and pursued MBA course work from Louisiana State University prior to relocating back to Texas. Kevin's prior work experience was with The Dow Chemical Company for fifteen years in various manufacturing positions in Texas and Louisiana.

In April, 2009 Mainland Custom Marble was pleased to announce the acquisition of Countertops Unlimited. Countertops Unlimited is a leading supplier of kitchen countertops in Texas and Louisiana. Kenny Pierce joins Mainland Custom Marble, Inc. as the Granite Division Director.

Mainland Custom Marble has outside sales representatives available for on-site customer assistance and consultation, as well as showroom consultants to assist our builder’s customers make design selections in our product showroom.
